Seville has a growing number of hostels, pensions, & youth hostels which have websites. But deciding among them can be a difficult task. There are hundreds and hundreds of different places to spend a night and many are very competitive in location and price. Should you stay in a hotel, hostel, or youth-hostel? Only you can decide this, but I have listed below a complete collection of Seville hostels, pensions, & youth hostels on the internet for those who are looking for merely an inexpensive and typically clean & safe place to stay.
One can read reviews and recommendations of MANY Seville hostels, pensions, & youth hostels in the "Hostels & Other Lodgings" forum of MadridMan's ALL SPAIN Message Board. Please utilize the SEARCH function with specific keywords in order to find previously posted reviews of any given hostel.
What is a hostel? In Spain and Latin America, hostels are usually very quaint (small), family owned and operated budget hotels and can be found in some of the most historical, interesting, and active parts of Seville at very good prices. In hostels, one typically is given and retains possession of the individual room key and oftentimes a private, in-room bathroom is included. Sometimes, in older buildings and/or for single-rooms the bathroom is "shared" and "down the hall". One should not confuse hostels in Spain with youth-hostels. In Spain, youth-hostels are called "albergues juveniles" in Spanish while hostels are called "hostales" in Spanish and "hostals" in Catalán.
WHERE to stay? Recommended area of lodging in Seville is the Old city center including the largely pedestrian "Barrio Santa Cruz" neighborhood as well as the neighborhood of "La Macarena" or even across the Guadalquivir River in the Triana neighborhood. Wherever you choose in Old Seville you'll have easier access by foot, bus, or metro to the most interesting parts of the city including the Cathedral and La Giralda tower as well as the Alcázar palace.
